Barnyard Bash Cake & Baseball Cupcake Cake

Here is a barnyard cake for a little boy's 3rd birthday party. Mom sent me a picture of the plates she was using, so the cake was modeled after the theme. I love all the cute little farm animals with their party hats!

The cake was iced in buttercream, and all the little characters were molded out of fondant.

Mom also ordered a baseball cupcake cake for his class to celebrate the following day. He shared his birthday with another little boy in his class, so we added his name also.

Cupcakes are iced in buttercream.

Cars Cupcakes

I don't usually make cupcake cakes, so this was new for me. I kinda liked it though...

This mom wanted some cupcakes with a "Cars" theme, but she wanted something different than the usual that she had seen. I came up with this little scene for Mater, McQueen, and Sally, and she loved it!

Vanilla and Chocolate cupcakes were iced in buttercream with fondant on top. The cars, rocks, tires, and cactus were all fondant.

Call of Duty Cake

This cake was done for a 12 year old who likes video games. I guess that probably describes most kids that age, huh :o)

The cake is covered in fondant with fondant accents. The helmet is also fondant covered cake, and the grenade is molded rice krispies on the inside.

Angry Birds Cake

Angry Birds is everywhere! Tons of people are always playing the game, and I've seen the little plush toys and clothing in the stores. So why not cake?!

My nephew, who was turning 9, wanted an Angry Birds cake for his birthday. So what does a Favorite Aunt Carla like me do? Well, she gives him one :o)

It was cute to watch all the kids pick out which bird or pig they wanted to eat...

Cake was iced in buttercream with all fondant accents. The castle has a brick pattern to it, but its hard to see in this image.

Again, the image quality is poor due to my lovely phone camera being my only working camera at the moment...

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cake

Its hard to believe that I've been making cakes for others for almost two years now. It doesn't seem like its been that long. I guess its true, time flies when you're having fun :o)

This cake was made for a little boy turning 3. I made his cake last year (the first Lightning McQueen cake on my blog ), so I was thrilled when his mom asked me to make him another one this year. I love repeat business :o)

He wanted Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, so that is what he got!

 Happy Birthday Casten!

Princess Baby Shower Cake

Here is a sweet soft pink princess cake I made for a baby shower. Cake is iced in buttercream with fondant roses. The tiara is molded out of gumpaste. All accents were dusted with edible pixie dust to give it that subtle shimmer, unfortunately, it doesn't show up in the image.

Ladybug Baby Shower Cake

Better late than never, I suppose... I apologize for the delay in cake postings...

Here is a sweet ladybug cake that I made for a baby shower. It is covered in fondant with fondant accents.

I just love the little ladybugs all around :o)

Side note: Please excuse the quality of the image as my camera is in need of a visit to the camera doctor, so this one and the next several posted images are from my phone camera :o(

Carribean Blue Scroll Cake

This cake was done for a young lady's birthday. She wanted her cake to look like the napkins she had chosen.

(Cake is iced in all buttercream)

Here are the napkins that she chose

Mater & Lightning McQueen

These cakes were done for two little boys who were having a "Cars" birthday.
This was the first time I had carved characters out of cake.

Here's another view of Mater

And another view of McQueen

Cookies...

Ok, its been a while since I've posted any new pics, so here goes...

Here are some cross cookies that I made for a Catholic school's Open House

Some recent Minnie Mouse cookies done in red this time

And here are some cupcake toppers that I made for a wonderful couple's housewarming party. The letters are cookies, and the flowers are made from fondant.

iPod Birthday Cake

Well, my son turned 15 today... I can't believe how time has flown... (sigh)

For his party this year, he wanted an iPod cake, so of course that's what he got.

A little closer look at the iPod...
Had to have his birth date as the time and battery percentage numbers. :o)

The cake is covered in fondant, and the headphones are fondant as well. The app icons are hand painted, and of course the power button, connector port, and volume button are included on the sides...

Happy Birthday to my wonderful kiddo!!

Baseball Birthday Cake

This is a baseball themed cake that my nephew requested. The cake is iced in buttercream with graham cracker crumbs for the base lines. The bat and ball are molded out of rice krispies and covered in fondant.

FFA Competition Cake

My son is a member of FFA. For our local fair, he decorated a cake for competition. Here is his farm themed cake that he made all by himself. I was standing by for guidance, but not too much was needed :o)

And here he is with his first place ribbon!

I'm so proud of him!!

Cowboy Graduation

This young man had a western themed graduation party. As he is rarely seen without his cowboy hat, it was only fitting that the figure on his cake have it too.

These cupcakes went along with his cake.

Strawberry cake with buttercream icing. Hat is made from fondant.

Chocolate cake with chocolate fudge icing. Diploma is made from fondant.

Vanilla cake with buttercream icing. Boot is molded chocolate.

Zebra Cake

This cake was for Miss K's 11th birthday. She loves zebra print and hot pink :o)

Crosby Cougars Baseball Cake

Our local high school baseball teams had a get together to celebrate the end of the year. Here is the cake that I made for them. The logo and baseballs are made out of gumpaste, and the boys names are written all around the cake.

Freshman Cougar Cake

My son wanted a cake for one of his classes to celebrate the end of his freshman year of high school. He got to help me with this one since it was for him, and this is what we came up with for the Crosby Cougars Class of 2014.

His class and all of the teachers loved it!

Gift-Wrapped Cake

Who doesn't like cake and presents!? So why not cake that is a present...
This cake was done in the favorite colors of the birthday girl. It is iced in buttercream, and the bow and circles are fondant.

Cookies, Cookies, and More Cookies

I've been baking and decorating lots of cookies lately. Here are some of them...

Some cute Minnie Mouse inspired cookies for little Miss C's 2nd birthday. These were individually bagged and given as treats from the party.

Oh, and some little Minnie Mouse toppers that I made for the cupcakes out of fondant...

{Thanks to Miss C's mommy for this photo.}

Here are some little daisy flower cookies that I made to give to the girls in my Daisy Girl Scout troop. Sadly, I forgot to take them, so they never got to enjoy them...

Now some cute piggy cookies :o)
These were for a girl that was showing her pig in a livestock show.

I also made some baseball cookies for a little league team, but once again, didn't remember to take a picture. Starting to see a trend here... Does breathing in too much sugar affect your memory, lol? Lets hope not... :o)

Bayer Retirement Cake

This cake was done for a gentleman that retired from the Bayer plant. He had been there for quite a while, and had seen the plant change hands a few times over the years. The other logos represent the previous companies.
The cake is iced in buttercream, and the logos are cut from fondant and painted with food coloring.

Baseball Cupcakes

Here are some cute little cupcakes for a little league baseball team. The bats and baseballs are made from fondant.

(The color looks a bit off in this picture, but you get the idea...)

A&M and German Chocolate

These cakes are very simple in design, which is what they wanted. The first one is a "Welcome Home" cake for a guy attending A&M. The cake is iced in buttercream with a hand cut fondant A&M logo.

The second one is a German Chocolate cake for a birthday.
The chocolate icing on this one was very fudgy and so super yummy :o) [Yes, I am a chocoholic...]

There was actually another one that went with these, but I forgot to take a picture of it. It was a "Welcome Home" cake for a guy that is in the Air Force. It was decorated in Air Force blue and golden yellow with a fondant Air Force logo.

Elvis cake

This cake was for an Elvis fan's 60th birthday.

Cake is iced in buttercream with fondant accents.

Jungle Cake

This cake was made for a lady that liked Olivia's Red & White Cake, and wanted the stripes and circles idea carried over to hers. She sent me a photo of the Jungle theme she was using, so I incorporated some of the leaves and colors into it. The cake is iced in buttercream with fondant circle and leaf accents.

Here is the theme she was using.

Bunny Cookies

With holidays comes class parties, so of course I made some goodies for my daughter's classroom Easter party. These are some yummy bunny sugar cookies with an icing glaze that hardens on the outside, but stays softer on the inside. (So much better than royal icing...)

Here they are individually packaged with a ribbon.

Masonic Lodge Cake

The cake is covered in chocolate buttercream and the words and masonic lodge logo are made out of gumpaste and handpainted with food coloring.

Peacock Feather Wedding Cake & Camo Grooms Cake

The bride had a couple photos of cakes that she really liked and wanted to incorporate her favorite parts from them into her cake. Here is her cake with black tulle around the bottom layer, teal scroll work on the top layer with a teal bow, and peacock feathers coming out of the bow.

For the grooms cake, she wanted to suprise him with camo and a replica of his favorite "toy", his side-by-side. The cake is covered in browns, black, and green fondant to give it the camo look, and his "toy" is molded out of rice krispie treats and covered with fondant.

They both loved their cakes!

Race Car Cake

This one was done for a little boy that wanted race cars. Originally I had planned to mold some cars, but decided he would have more fun with real Hot Wheels...

Windmill Cake

Here is a windmill cake that I made for a man that builds windmills as a hobby. He also loves to fish in his pond, so we added a resemblence of that also.

I can say that I definitely now know how not to build a windmill out of gumpaste/fondant. This project was a collection of trial and error for the top of the windmill... but I think it turned out great in the end. :o)
