Windmill Cake

Here is a windmill cake that I made for a man that builds windmills as a hobby. He also loves to fish in his pond, so we added a resemblence of that also.

I can say that I definitely now know how not to build a windmill out of gumpaste/fondant. This project was a collection of trial and error for the top of the windmill... but I think it turned out great in the end. :o)

I think all of your cakes look great! You are one of the most talented people I know and I know you will make your dream come true with the store front!! Good Luck!
QUESTION: Does the gum paste harden up? Have you tried working with chocolate or you could have made the blades with royal icing maybe?

Tara, yes, the gum paste hardens. Thats actually what the windmill blades and tail are make of. Each blade is at an angle, and thats what I was having issues with. It took a few tries to get it right, lol...

This is amazing! I can not think of one thing that you have EVER (and I've known you all my life) picked up that you couldn't do with professional quality.
